WHO ARE WE?

Elgon Islamic Center is a Muslim non-profit charity based in Uganda, East Africa. We’re a longstanding, locally trusted organisation made up of national employees and international volunteers working together to make a difference.

WHAT ARE WE?

Elgon Islamic Center provides the basic essentials of life to the most vulnerable and needy people of Mbale, Uganda. Through diverse and sustainable development projects we are equipping Ugandans to meet their own needs and to forever change their communities.

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?

Elgon Islamic Center works in the urban slums and rural villages of Eastern Uganda. Many of our projects are located within the region of Mbale, but our reach extends much further. Our awareness of needs outside Mbale is ever-growing, and therefore, so is our presence in those places.

WHAT WE DO?

Charity for Education

Education charities make learning possible for students of all ages, from pre-school to graduate school. We avail education opportunities that help make children access school.

Feed for Hungry a Child

Donate to provide supplemental food and medical care to children and to support our therapeutic feeding and food stability initiatives for infants, newborns and vulnerable grownups.

Home for Homeless

We address the needs of children experiencing poverty and homelessness through programs that support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Bringing Clean Water

We implement community-owned water projects to solve water crisis, create water sanitation and hygiene through our (WASH) programming to protect everyone’s long-term health.

Help Little Hands

We aim at providing a practical support network and advocacy for families with vulnerable little children in communities tominimize health and financial impacts on families.

Donate for Children

Our reponse in terms of gifts and distribution of physical goods like food and medicine to a child in need enable us respond to emergencies with both immediate & long-term support.

OUR PROJECTS

To date, we have fully executed several projects in the local communities

Promote Islamic values & development programs

This is done through practices like education and lifestyle correction, honouring Islamic events like Ramadan, qurban, mosque construction, Construction of schools, daawa, quran distribution, madrasa.

Support for the vulnerable in communities

Extension of support to the orphans, widows, the disabled and the elderly with basic interventions like household support and food relief distribution and vulnerable childrens’ restoration, and rehabilitation.

Promote proper sanitation and clean water usage

Implementing bore-hole construction, building water wells to extract groundwater from underground aquifers and rainwater harvesting systems to collect and store rainwater for drinking.
